EXCERPT

“You have never truly touched the earth if you have not heard her cry.”

The woman locked eyes with Ava. “I want you to listen carefully, in a way you have never imagined before. Imagine the earth could speak to you. Imagine every sound it made was words for your ears only. Imagine Earth could show you all she has seen and the pain and life inside her.”

Ava nodded.

“I want you to let it in. Without fear, without worry of what you will see, let her speak to you. Listen to the earths cry.”

Ava still wasn’t so sure about the earth crying, but she definitely felt tears of her own and wasn’t sure if it was the intensity of the woman’s words or her hormones. “Okay.”

The woman grabbed Ava’s hands and pushed them deep into the fresh earth. Ava felt small roots climb between her fingers and wrap around her hands. .

She tilted her head, listened to the soft scratching of leaves, and breathed in the earthy smell coming from the rich soil beneath her hands. She closed her eyes and really felt…something. She felt a horrible wrench in her stomach. Before she could begin to worry that something was wrong with the baby, the images came. It wasn’t her baby that was in pain it was Mother Earth’s baby. The world. Everything painful inside it. She saw a group of children rail thin and sick. It was so hot and so horrible. She watched a little boy barely more than skin and bone take his last breath. She heard his mother’s miserable cry. Then she saw trees burning and forest animals fleeing. She saw war, violence, and destruction. The images came faster. Glimpses of death and destruction. Then even faster. She could barely make anything out now. The images flew by; life and death in fast-forward. She felt it though, all of it. She felt the pain of the world all at once. Hunger, fear, pain, loss. She saw the changes. First snow and ice, then new life. A small flower worked its way through a pile of snow. Green grass followed it and then a small puddle grew to a mighty river. The river changed its course over and over again, changing everything along its path as it went.

“Ava! Ava!” Alec’s voice rang in her mind.

She tried to open her eyes, but couldn’t. She was trapped. She used all she had to force her lashes open, but couldn’t see a thing.

“Ava?” Alec said again.

“It’s okay. She’s alright,” the old woman said.

“Her eyes, why do they look like that?” Alec asked, “What’s happening?”

“It’s the elements response to her.”

Ava tried to speak but couldn’t. She felt the wind tickle her face. She felt the ground shake beneath her, and heard the leaves shaking on their branches.

“She’s touched it. She has truly touched her element.”

“Ava, can you hear me?” Alec said.

“Yeah, I...” Ava struggled hearing tree branches shaking and feeling the world spinning all around her.

“Let’s get you back.” Alec lifted her.

“I’m okay. She was right. I saw it all.” Ava’s vision came back then. Her eyes watered. The old woman stood in front of her. A misted vision. “Thank you,” Ava said.

“No, thank you.” Ms. Frank responded.

Ava felt the spinning slow and saw the trees reaching for her. She lifted her finger to touch the leaves of one as Alec turned. She squinted as her head rolled back and the dark sky cleared before her eyes.

I'm thrilled to announce the upcoming release of SEERESS, the third instalment in the RUNES series. You can start reading this series by winning a copy of Runes (See Below).

FYI: I have a book (GRIMNIRS) that bridges IMMORTALS (book #2) and SEERESS (book #3).
Because of the ocassional swearing and intense kissing/love scenes in Grimnirs, I plan to release a CLEAN version at the same time as SEERESS

Join us on FACEBOOK as we celebrate the release of Seeress.

TEASER from SEERESS:

“Apologize first.”

“Torin, this is not the time to play games.”

“Who said I’m playing.” He braced himself on the door frame and lowered his head until he and I were on the same eye level. “You told me to stay away from you. Unforgiveable. You implied our relationship might not survive. Totally wrong and cruel. But the worst part, you said your feelings for me made you weak.” His eyebrows shot up. “Weak? Seriously? What in Hel’s Mist does that mean?”

He was serious. “Are you forgetting what happened before I said those things?”

“So no apology?”

“No.” I was dying to, but he had to understand I wasn’t a breakable doll.

He stepped back and slammed the door in my face.

My jaw dropped. No, he didn’t. That arrogant man didn’t just do that. I turned to walk downstairs, so angry I wanted to chuck something. Halfway down the stairs, I stopped and glared at my phone, wishing I could send him a nasty text. Too bad he wouldn’t see it.

I stomped back.

When I burst into his room, he was waiting. His eyes said he’d known I’d be back.
“Let me tell you exactly what I think of your tantrum, Valkyrie.

Excerpt - Review - Giveaway @EdnahWalters #Grimnirs #RunesSeries #NewRelease

EXCERPT

“You, doll-face. Why are you having a shitty day?”

I glared ahead. “Because you are screwing with my head. How come you keep saying things I don’t remember?”

“I told you. The Norns put a whammy on you.”

“Norns?”

“Deities of destiny. Mean, bitter hags. They control the destiny of all beings—Mortals, Immortals, even the gods. Interestingly, I just found out why they targeted you and erased your memories.”

“Why?” Not that I believed his rambling.

“Say please.”

I was tempted to ignore him, but something weird had happened to me and I wanted answers. I eased the car into a parking spot across from my school, switched off the engine, and turned to look at Echo. He was dressed in all leather again today. I realized that what I’d assumed was a leather shirt was actually a vest of some kind. Once again, he wore fingerless gloves and silver Gothic rings with weird markings.

“Please,” I said through clenched teeth.

He touched his lips. “I want a kiss, too.”

I narrowed my eyes. “Why are you such a tool all the time? You think this is fun for me? Not remembering things? Waking up one morning and seeing souls? Ending up in a psych ward, where they pumped me full of drugs, then coming home only to be met by you, a reaper?”

“Grimnir,” he corrected then frowned. “Are those the fake memories the Norns gave you? Psych ward? That’s just wrong.”

“I was in a psych ward,” I snapped.

He raised his hands. “Okay. No need to be snippy.”

“I’m not—”

He covered my mouth then smirked when I bit his hand. I bore down until I tasted blood. He didn’t even wince. His grin broadened instead.

“Drink my blood, doll-face. Bond with me for eternity.”

The thought was scary. I pushed his hand away and wiped my mouth. “Ew. Can your blood do that?”

He laughed.

“Will you be serious for even a second?” I asked.

“Don’t you want to be mine forever?”

“Ew, no.” I made a face. “I don’t even like you.”

*REVIEW*

Look out Torin St. James! Echo has stolen my heart with his cocky mouth and sexy swagger in this Runes series installment. There I was meeting him for the first time and I could not get enough of him and still want more! Cora was great in this book, she caught on to things pretty quickly and made an awesome heroine. Unraveling the truth one puzzle piece at a time.

Cora is desperately trying to figure out how she can be in two places at once, wondering whether or not the Norns took her memories away and what the heck Echo wants from her. All the while Echo is right up her in her personal space, running his cocky mouth and doing his best to resist the pull she has on him now. When the week before her return from PSI, it was all fun and games.

As reader and fan of hers for the past three years her writing leaves me wanting more with every book she publishes. Ednah Walters knows how to keep her readers sitting on the edge of their seats. I always want to know but never expect what's to come next and she never fails to impress me. She knows how to grab your attention from the beginning and keeps you turning the pages to the very end. I ♥ Echo!

TEASER:

“I wanted us to be alone.”

I released a shaky breath. “I saw you earlier.”

“It wasn’t enough. Call me greedy, but I need more.” He ran his knuckles up and down my arm. I shivered. His hands rested on my hips then he lowered his head and pressed his face into my hair. “I didn’t expect you when I came here, Freckles. This was supposed to be a routine job, yet now it’s much more.”

I leaned against him, wanting to ease the pain in his voice even though I didn’t know how. “But I’m with Eirik.”

“He’s not right for you.” His voice was low, intense.

“I’ve known him all my life. He understands me.”
“Does he make you tremble with a touch?”  He ran the tips of his fingers up my bare arm, his touch feather light, yet it lit a fire inside me. I closed my eyes, my entire body trembling. He lifted hair from my neck, lowered his head, and pressed a kiss on my exposed neck. Warmth pulsed through me. “Is he the first person you think about when you wake up in the morning and the last one you think about before you fall asleep?”

COVER REVEAL: Awoken by Timothy Miller

Another cover reveal from Spencer Hill Press! Gorgeous, isn't it?

Fourteen-year-old Michael Stevens has never been ordinary; no orphan who hears music coming from rocks considers himself a typical teenager. But life gets a lot more complicated when two-foot-tall, albino, doll-like men sneak into his room one night, transforming the harmless music into a frightening ability he cannot control.
Soon, strangers in black suits begin to ask unsettling questions while unnatural animals with mismatched eyes haunt the streets. They are hunting, and not just Michael: anyone he cares about is in danger.
With the help of a mysterious drifter, an annoying girl he's accidentally mutated, and one of those creepy doll men, Michael finds himself in the middle of a war that could forever change the world he knows - reconstructing the very definition of humanity.

Writer's Block or fatigue

1. Do you ever feel so mentally drained you can't plot or write? That's where I'm at. I pushed myself hard to finish, polish and worked on the edits of my next romance book, Forever Hers, book #5 of the Fitzgerald Family series, and I'm totally burnt-out (burned-out). But everything is on schedule...woohoo.
Realese date is October 15th, 10 days to go....

2. Meanwhile, I have two YA WIPS I'm working on. So far I've written about 20,000 words for each of them, 60,000 to go on one and about 80,000 on the other. My problem is, I can't seem to summon strength to write for long. I write a few pages and get frustrated and move to the other.

Anything llike this ever happen to you? How do I focus on one? The last two weeks, I've just read my critique partners' WIPs to try and get out of the funk, but it's not working. I want to write these two stories so badly. I even gave myself Dec 31st deadline. Nothing is working.

Any ideas?

MONDAY MADNESS, New WIP & all

Sorry I took a break from blogging the past week, but my brain needed a rest, so kicked back and rejuvenated with a good book.

1.      I finally read Unwind by Neal Shusterman. If you haven’t started reading this series, you should. Why? One, the movie is coming out soon and if you are into horror or chill-factor, you do not want to miss out. Two, Unwholly, the second book in the series was just released amid rave reviews.  Just bought it.

The series is based in a dystopian world where they got rid of abortion but instead parents can choose to unwind their children between ages 13 and 17, have their body parts and organs harvested and given to other people. This way, the children don’t really die. Some even retain memories of their past lives. It is all in how the unwinding is done (no spoilers). Unwind follows three teen escapees who don’t want to be unwound. There’s adventure, romance and a moral dilemma. Think about it? When a child refuses to behave or acts out, should you unwind them? It’s New Age discipline. Be a good child or I'll unwind you...scary. Oh, my problem with the series is the multiple POVs. My daughter, who introduced me to the series, loves it. It drove me nuts. Still can't wait to read Unwholly.

2.      I started fast drafting my next WIP. Will keep you posted. Do you find it easier to fast draft a sequel or a new story? This is a sequel and for the entire week, I couldn’t get my characters to talk to me…sigh...hence the kicking back (LOL). I like new WIPs better. They give you room to play around with your characters. When writing sequels, you must stay true to the previous books, which meant praying and begging them to come back and chat with you.

3.      My next adult romance book will be out Oct 15th -woohoo, and I can’t wait to share the trailer. To see the trailer, stop by dult romance blo, E.B. Walters Weblog or my YOUTUBE channel. Let me know what you think. If you review adult romance, e-mail me and I'll add you to the list of my reviewers.

A teaser from Betrayed in Bran's POV

From now until Betrayed is released on June 5th, I'll post teasers from Betrayed written in Bran's POV, deleted scenes.  Let me know what you think.

“Your ex-girlfriend has a group?” Lil asked.
She somehow managed to convey annoyance and hurt in the question, her expressive eyes showing just how much the knowledge bothered her. I wanted to take her in my arms and tell there was no one comparable to her. Not now. Not ever.
“She wasn’t my girlfriend. Just someone I hooked up with for a short period. Most demons tend to separate into groups based on loyalty to a Lord or a cause. Coronis had a way of dealing with that.”
“Hooked up with?”
I cupped her cheeks, pressed my forehead against hers and exhaled. “Lil, Coronis made us do all sorts of crazy things as part of our initiation I had no choice in what happened between Solange and me on that island.”
“I’m happy we vanquished Coronis,” she said. “And promise not to stop me from taking out Solange next time we meet.”
I laughed. Vulnerable one minute, a warrior the next, she fascinated me like no woman ever did. Then she smiled, the corners of her lips tilting upwards ever so slightly, her smoky-green eyes sparkling. If I had my sketch pad and pen, I would have captured her breathtaking smile on paper. Instead, I tucked it away for later, leaned in and stole a kiss. Just a brush, but the effect on me was instantaneous. The need for more slammed into me. Her grandfather’s warning flashed through my head, but some things were worth all the trouble in the world. I moved closer for a deeper contact.
She evaded my lips, her eyes no longer teasing. Promise me.
I’d promise her the moon if it meant having her back in my arms. “I promise.”
Now, you can kiss me, she telepathed.
I chuckled, cupped her head, and brushed my thumbs back and forth on her smooth, soft cheeks. Her breath hitched as I leaned in and claim her lips. She was mine, no matter how many little games she played, Lil Falcon was mine.
