1. Winner of Kick-butt Characters is:   Josie Hink

2. Hunted (paperback) is still available for $5.85 AMAZON, and BARNES&NOBLE.

3. Here's a short deteted scene from HUNTED:

“Did they say we can’t leave the valley?” Sykes asked as soon as we left HQ offices behind and headed toward the tunnels.

Remy chuckled. “Nope.”

“Want to hook up with the waitresses?” Sykes asked. He walked backward, hazel eyes twinkling with mischief, the meeting in the conference room all but forgotten.

Remy nodded and the two bumped fists.

“You had time to make dates in the middle of that mess in L.A.?” Izzy asked.

“Hey, no one is stopping you from ditching Rastiel and hooking up with someone now and then.” Sykes wiggled his brow suggestively and pointed at his chest.

Izzy laughed. “In your dreams.”

“You don’t know what you’re missing,” Sykes added, smirking.

Bran chuckled. “You’re losing your touch, Sykes.”

“I’m just warming up.” He interlocked his fingers and snapped his knuckles.
Bran looked me and we both grinned.

Do demon hunters make New Year resolutions? Find out @scene13 @yaednah_walters, #scene13,

Twenty-eight authors with new books in 2013 have banded together to bring you teasers of their work, writing pointers and share their journey into publication. It's all happening here:

We have authors galore: debut authors, published authors and indie authors. We all support each other.

This month, we covered New Year resolutions by our characters, or us. Today is Bran's turn.
Bran is Guardian Legacy bad-boy-turn-good, so you don't want to miss it. Stop by, visit and learn more about these new releases

Where am I on my writing meter? See below. Not doing so well. Wonder why? My inner editor, you know that annoying personality that sneaks out to take over my sane and ordered writer's life (*right pinky in at the corner of my mouth*), visited me yesterday and threw my schedule out the window. Today is halfday at my kiddos school, so we'll see how far I go.

NEW RELEASE: Touch Of Death by Kelly Hashway @yaednah_walters, @kellyhashway, #mustread, #TouchofDeath, #Teenromance

WINNER OF YOUNG ADULT FAIRIES AND FANTASY GIVEAWAY HOP: DRUM ROLLS, PLEASE

TOUCH OF DEATH REVIEW (5 stars)

13th zodiac sign!!! I love it when an author comes up with something original and writes an amazing book. Kelly nailed it by centering her story on the 13th zodiac sign (never heard of it until now). I love ancient mythology, but the combination of Greek mythology, necromancers and zombies in this story took my breath away

The story held my interest from the beginning to the end. I loved Jodi. She was relatable and believable, strong, the kind of heroine you root for. She didn’t just accept things and was stubborn enough to look for answers. She is my kind of heroine.

Alex was swoon-worthy and likeable. Great sense of humor, a touch of arrogance, sweetness. Who doesn't need who's there when you need them? Every girl needs their Alex. And the twist at the end….I didn’t see that coming.

If you love a well-written book with amazing characters, grab your copy before the release of Stalked by Death.

Welcome to the war.

The Tesla Institute is a premier academy that trains young time travelers called Rifters. Created by Nicola Tesla, the Institute seeks special individuals who can help preserve the time stream against those who try to alter it.

Torn between them are Lex and Ember, two Rifters with no memories of their life before joining the time war.

When Lex’s girlfriend dies during a mission, the only way he can save her is to retrieve the Dox, a piece of tech which allows Rifters to re-enter their own timeline without collapsing the time stream. But the Dox is hidden deep within the Telsa Institute, which means Lex must go into the enemy camp. It’s there he meets Ember, and the past that was stolen from them both comes flooding back.

COVER REVEAL: Fireblood by Trisha Wolfe

Fireblood

To save a kingdom, Zara must choose between a prince who could be the answer and a rising rebellion that threatens to take control.

When Zara Dane is chosen to marry Prince Sebastian Hart, son of the man who ordered her father's capture, Zara knows she must fight to save everything she loves from ruin.

Being betrothed to the prince means a life trapped behind the towering stone walls of the Camelot-forged realm. Under the watchful eye of the prince's first knight, Sir Devlan Capra, changing her future becomes difficult.

When an unlikely rebel reveals the truth about the deadly secrets that fuel King Hart's twisted world, Zara's path to rescue her father becomes clouded by deception. The Rebels clear her path by forcing Zara's hand with an ultimatum: sway Prince Sebastian to join the Rebels, convincing him of his father's evil nature, or they will take him out.

But Zara is uncertain about a future under the Rebels' command and where the prince's heart truly lies. She must decide who to trust, what to believe, and what she's truly fighting for before the king destroys all of Karm, including her heart

Editing Thou Art a Witch with a capital B

1. Okay, so I got the edits (HUNTED, the next Guardian Legacy book) from my amazing editor, Rich Storr, and I have to slice off about 10,000 words.... drip..drip, drip...yeah those are tears rolling down my face. But it's gotta get done. My next book, I'm so aiming for 75,000 words.  I swear.

2. I did complete the WIP I was working on in 6 weeks, so not so bad. Sorry, I was out of town and didn't blog about it. Plan to upload it so my CPs can plow through it and gut it out while I work on HUNTED. I'll probably edits both books in the coming weeks.

3. Kids are off to school next week...hooray...party time... Yeah, I know, I'm a bad mother. But after five kids, you get your yippee moments wherever you can find them and thumb your nose at anyone who condemns you with a look. Yeah, I'm talking about you reading this. Judge lest ye be judged.

4. Our shopping trip to Park City and Salt Lake City was fun but my poor visa suffered the most. We tend to go somewhere fun each summer and skipped this year...except for the few days in Vegas at the beginning of summer, which wasn't bad. We did enjoy Mistere, Bellagio water show, and Madam T's wax museum. Still my oldest wasn't with us, so it wasn't the same.

Okay, enough about me. What are you working on this week.

First Fan-Fic for Guardian Legacy series @ednahwalters

Okay, so I'm completely stroked that a fan wrote a short scene for one of my teen Guardians. I have these amazing bloggers who love the GL series and they even astarted blogs for their fav characters.

The Guardians, if you haven't started the series, have abilities to manipulate elements. Since there are 6 teens in the junior team, the guys seem to have quite a following (poor ladies). Needless to say, there's Fire/Energy Guardian (Sykes)  blog, that's where the fan-fic was posted, Water/Ice Guardian (Bran) blog and the more recently started Earth/Solid Guardian (Remy) blog. If you've read the series, join your favotie team.

Anyhew, enjoy the fan-fiction below. Meanwhile, my WIP is nearly 50% done...woohoo!!!

HERE IS THE FAN-FIC. by Jeanette (From Team Fire Blog)...ENJOY

Ok, so here's some fan-fic for Ednah who has created these characters that we love so much. I'm so excited! I'll set it up for you. Sykes meets a girl, and ~gasp~ her name is Jeannette. She's just moved with her younger half-brother and her mom from Texas. This is Sykes & Jeannette's first encounter
I saw her storm out the front door of the school with her backpack slung over one shoulder. She hit the door so hard I heard it bang against the outside wall. Whoa, this girl was feisty. I ran after her.

“Hey! Hey wait up. Jeannette. It’s Jeannette right?” She stopped but didn’t turn around. One hand was in a tight fist while the other held on to the strap of her backpack. I could see her take a deep breath like she was trying to fight down rage or tears, I couldn’t tell which. The breeze blew her brown wavy hair and I could smell her vanilla shampoo.

“Hey, I’m sure whatever it is that’s got you so worked up, it’s not worth getting caught skipping class your first week of school.”

She slowly turned and looked at me. Anger flashed in her dark brown eyes. She took another deep breath. “Why does it matter to you if I get in trouble or not?”

I grinned at her. “It doesn’t really. I’m a sucker for a girl who likes a little trouble.”

“Uh huh. Well I’m sure that adorable smile and bad boy charm works on all the other girls, but my B.S. limit has been reached for the day. So, I’ll see ya.” She turned and started walking, completely unaware of how her southern accent affected me.
“Wait, can I at least walk with you? I’ve got a free hour and I need to stretch my legs.” She stopped and without turning said, “Whatever.”
“So, where’d you move from?”
“Texas.”
“Nice. How are you adjusting?” Out of the corner of my eye I saw her mouth tighten. After a few seconds I wasn't sure she was going to answer.
“Well, considering I didn't know we were moving until two days before it happened, my mom is acting all weird, my step-dad is MIA and my only friend is my little brother, I’d say I’m just peachy. I have no idea why I just told you all of that.”
Grinning, I said, “I have that effect on people. And hey, you can count me as a friend.” I looked over at her as she rolled her eyes.

“Oh geez. Does that crap really work on the girls around here?” Shaking her head “and y’all question our intelligence.”  We had reached the end of school property and she turned toward the wooded area bordering the football field. She glanced over. “Are you just going to follow me like some hall monitor on a power trip?”

I chuckled. She reminded me a little of another feisty girl with a sharp tongue. “I’m no hall monitor. I don’t think they’d trust me to enforce the “no running in the halls” rule. I just thought I’d get a little fresh air and see what had you damaging school property.”
We came to a small cluster of trees where she chucked her bag to the ground, sat down with her back against a tree. She leaned her head back and closed her eyes. Some of the tension left her body as she took another deep breath. I sat down next to her our knees touching. She opened one eye and looked at me. “You do know what personal space is right? “
“Yes, but the presence of another warm body can often ease a person’s anxiety.”
“Seriously, do girls really eat that up? They must since you seem to have a line for everything.”
Instead of answering her I leaned back with my hands behind my head and looked up at the sunlight shifting through the leaves. It was one of those days when the weather seemed to make a conscience effort to be enjoyable. I found it interesting that I just wanted to sit there and relax. I usually felt like a lightning bolt was zipping through my veins. Weird. “Are you going to tell me why you stormed out of school?”
She sighed. “Algebra and that stupid algebra teacher, whatever his name is. It’s not like I don’t know how to do the problems. We just learned a different way of doing them. I mean who cares what strategies you use as long as you get the right answer.” I could see her fists clench like she was trying to hold on to something. Or hold something inside.
“Yah, Landis is a stickler for his way or no way. You know I've forgotten my manners. My name is Sykes.”

She turned her head but didn't open her eyes. “Oh I know your name. I've heard it spoken by almost every female in school, faculty included. Your reputation precedes you.” She smirked and turned her head back.
“Hey, don’t fault me for being such a friendly guy. Most people would consider that a good thing.”
“Well I’m not most people. So if you want to go spread your version of southern hospitality to those who appreciate it, you’re not required to stay.” I looked over at her. The breeze picked up a strand of her hair. I caught it and ran my thumb over the soft wave. Before she opened her eyes I let it go.
“How long has your step-dad been gone?”

She stiffened. “I don’t know. A couple of months I guess.” Shrugging she said, “It’s not like we were that close. But it hurts my little brother and mom.”

 I nodded.
Then she opened her eyes and looked at me. Her dark eyes standing out against her pale skin sprinkled with freckles. “She won’t give me a straight answer as to why she moved us here or why he HAS to go to THIS school. We've never had secrets."

I could see the confusion and hurt swirling like a storm inside her.
The wind blew a small leaf on to her arm. I brushed it off and as soon as my hand touched her I felt that lightning bolt zap something inside of me. She jumped back, shocked. I breathed out, “What the hell?”
She swallowed. “What the heck was that?”
I stared at her. What was it about her that calmed me one minute then electroshocked my heart the next? “You’re not all human are you?”

She blanched. “What?! We shock each other with static electricity or something and the first thing you jump to is I’m not all human?! Who asks that? I guess you've reached your nice guy limit.” She picked up her backpack and stormed off towards the school. After a few yards she stopped and turned to look at me. Shaking her head she turned back to the school and rounded the corner. I had no idea what had just happened, but for the first time in my life a girl had freaked me out.

LOVE IT!!!!  What do you guys think???

Story Setting, real or fake.

When you write a book, do you use a fake town or a real one? Why?

My Guardian Legacy series is an urban fantasy, but the Guardians' HQ/setting is in a town in northern Utah, my home town. To get my facts straight, I visited the local high school and got the layout for my fictitious high school, the hotel near and RV park, where my character and her grandfather lived, made calls to local business and city offices...you name it, I researched it.

Even though I found it easy to use a real town, my characters visit other places across the globe, so I do a lot of research online too as I write. Needless to say, I go nuts when I don't have internet, like today.

Our wireless has been acting up, so I had to vamoose to the library to use their wireless. Turned out great. I made today's deadline--finished chapter 8. Woohoo!!

TEASER (scene from Vegas) from BETRAYED

With Bran behind the wheel of the Suburban, we headed toward the Strip—the stretch of Las Vegas Boulevard South where the largest hotels, resorts, and casinos were located. The entertainment capital of the world pulsed with people’s hopes and dreams. Desperate-looking people stared out of taxi windows and disappeared into the flashy buildings.
I reached up to touch the Cardinal pendant through my shirt. The jadeite core was warming up, typical of its behavior in Vegas, where demons mingled with humans in casinos and resorts. Despite that, my dagger lay calm in its sheath, which meant no strong demonic presence in our vicinity.
The ravens were the first warning that things were not okay. The black birds perched on the Arc de Triomphe replica at the entrance of Las Vegas Paris. More sat on their Eiffel Tower. Ravens weren’t nocturnal birds to begin with. They were also a rare sight in Vegas.

Triangles

A cruise ship. A beautiful island. Two sexy guys. What could possibly go wrong?

In the Bermuda Triangle--a lot.

Hoping to leave behind the reminders of her crappy life--her father's death years ago, her mother's medical problems, and the loser who's practically stalking her--seventeen-year-old Autumn Taylor hops on a ship with her sister for a little distraction. When she wakes up in the Bermuda Triangle, she fears she's gone nuts for more than one reason: that loser's suddenly claiming they're a happy couple... a hot guy is wrapping his arms around her and saying "Happy Anniversary"... and suddenly, she's full of bruises, losing her hair, and getting IV medication. Autumn visits the ship's doctor, hoping for a pill or a shot to make the craziness go away. Instead, she's warned that one of these "alternate realities" could become permanent.

She just has to ask herself one question--how the hell is she going to get out of this mess?
