 TEASER

“Who said I’m playing.”

He braced himself on the door frame and lowered his head until he and I were on the same eye level.

“You told me to stay away from you. Unforgiveable. You implied our relationship might not last. Totally wrong and cruel. But the worst part, you said your feelings for me made you weak.”

His eyebrows shot up.

“Weak? Seriously? What in Hel’s Mist does that mean?”

He was serious.

“Are you forgetting what happened before I said those things?”

“So no apology?”

“No.” I was dying to, but he had to understand I wasn’t a breakable doll.

He stepped back and slammed the door in my face.

My jaw dropped. No, he didn’t. That arrogant man didn’t just do that.

BLURB

Somebody wants her sister dead …

FBI Special Agent Ann Duncan knows how to face down danger, but once again, she’s not the target. Her baby sister, Joy Davidson, has stumbled upon a conspiracy and made some powerful enemies.

Luck and God’s grace help Ann save her sister the first time, but she knows the bad guys will try again. With Patrick on a university tour and perhaps the most important case of her career weighing upon her mind, Ann must find the strength, wisdom, and heart to find out who wants her sister dead, what Joy discovered, and how to stop the conspirators. Ann instinctively knows that if she fails the Davidson case will only be the first of many tragedies.

EXCERPT

Where’s Ann? Joy wondered for the fifth time in as many minutes. Although they had never specified a time, Ann should have been there by now.

Maybe she got lost … No, she helped you move in.

Maybe she had extra work to do. She’d have called by now.

Maybe—stop!

Joy grunted in frustration.

Someone knocked.

“Finally!” Joy exclaimed, rolling her eyes in relief.

A second, more insistent, knock sounded.

“I’m coming! Goodness, you make me wait up half the night and then expect me to jump when you’re ready,” Joy grumbled. “You’re late!” she scolded, swinging the door open.

Only it wasn’t Ann.

About the Author
Julie mainly confines her writing to three genres: Christian inspirational, YA real-world science fiction, and normal science fiction.

She likes teaching, writing, reading, sleeping, doing puzzles, and hanging out with friends. (Not necessarily in that order)

Writing has made her super picky about the things she reads but normally, her reading list includes something that fits under the thriller, mystery, science fiction, or fantasy.

Occasionally, she attempts short poetry. The poems turn into songs, which she sings with abandon when nobody's looking.

We headed toward the lockers. Cora talked nonstop about the people she’d helped over the weekend, but she was careful not to mention the word ‘soul’. There were rules for Immortals and Valkyries, but the number was anonymity. Mortals were not supposed to know about our world.

Now that the swim season was over, Cora was working a few times a week and Saturdays at hospitals and nursing homes. Six months ago, she’d insisted that working for the Habitat for Humanity was enough community services to impress any college application committees. Nursing homes and hospitals were going to write her a glowing recommendation for the time she spent with patients.

Me? I didn’t think any college admin would ever know I’d saved lives. I couldn’t explain the things I’d done.

Torin disappeared toward his locker, while Cora and I headed toward ours. I was putting my books away when a sliver of awareness shot up my spine. I associated that sizzle with the Norns, except this time was different.

Someone was humming a tune. The song was familiar but I couldn’t place it. I tried to find the source. Heart pounding, I turned and searched for the source. I couldn’t tell where it came from or explain why the hairs on my neck rose.

Cora slammed the door of her locker and yanked my attention. I grabbed my folder and the books for my morning classes, and followed her. Torin met us in the middle of the hallway.

One look at me and he asked, “What’s wrong?”

I squeezed his hand. He knew what that meant: wait.

“See you at lunch,” Cora said and took off toward her English class. Torin and I headed upstairs toward the math floor. His jock buddies followed us like he was a magnet. Someone was throwing a party on Friday. Another had a birthday party or was it dinner? One wanted him to join Lacrosse.

We lost them a door away from my math class and I heard it again. The same song was being hummed again. This time I recognized the tune from last night during my vision, or whatever it was. I turned and searched the students hurrying past us. The sound rose above the conversations and the laughter. Was I the only one hearing it?

Torin caught my hand. “Hey? What’s going on?”

“Can’t you hear it?” The person was using words now. Not English.

“Hear what?”

“The song.” I didn’t understand the words, but the song was sweet and soothing, like a lullaby. I cocked my eyebrows at Torin. “It’s beautiful, isn’t it?”

Torin shook his head. “I, uh, can’t hear anything other than the noise from the students.” The first bell rang. “And the bell.”

The song disappeared, drowned by the bell or the singer decided to stop. “You didn’t hear that haunting music?”

He frowned. “No. You sure you’re okay?”

“Yeah, or I’m hallucinating.” I didn’t tell him it was the song I’d heard last night during my vision or he’d start worrying. “Let’s go.”

We entered the class just ahead of Mrs. Bates. Torin’s seat was right behind mine. When I glanced back, he was still frowning. I shouldn’t have mentioned the song.

“I’m fine,” I mouthed.

His expression said he didn’t believe me. For the rest of the class, my thoughts kept drifting to what I’d heard and what it meant.

TEASER:

“I plan to be her RA and TA," Torin said. "Then we’ll start working on our basketball team.”
“Basketball team?” Cora asked.
Torin gave me a slow grin. I knew that smile too well. He was about to say something naughty. “The number of children I want,” he said.
I choked on my drink. Where the heck did that come from? He had the nerve to pat my back and whisper, “You okay, luv?”
I wanted to neuter him. We hadn’t even talked about college, let alone marriage and kids. I assumed he planned to propose and wait for my response before I started popping out those babies. Babies. With Torin. The thought was mind boggling.
“Don’t worry, we’ll have a couple of centuries to practice and fulfill all my other fantasies before we start,” he added.
My face, I was sure, was as red as the jewelry I’d borrowed from Mom’s box. I couldn’t come up with a response, so I stared at the flickering candle light and plotted his slow demise. Would he haunt me if I decapitated him? Probably.

“You smell amazing...” @EdnahWalters #Grimnirs #RunesSeries #NewRelease

EXCERPT

“Now see what you made me do.” I eased off the brake. Ahead, Dad’s truck was nowhere in sight.

“Sorry about that,” Echo said, but he didn’t sound or look it. He reached out and lifted the hair on my right shoulder.

I swatted at his hand. “Stop that.”

“Can’t help it.” He planted a kiss on my neck. The car swayed as I momentarily lost control.
“I’m serious. Quit messing with me, Echo.”

“You smell amazing.” He trailed kisses up my neck to my ear and inhaled.

The sensations that invaded my body were downright frightening. Not even Eirik had ever made me feel like this. If I could forget Echo was a lunatic and I was losing my mind, I would have enjoyed the sensation.

I reached up and tried to push his head away, but it was like moving a boulder. Worse, my hand sunk into his hair. It was silky, and for one brief moment, I wanted to run my fingers through it, maybe hold his head in place and savor the moment.

He bit my ear. I squealed and, once again, lost control of the car. “Dang it, Echo. We could get into an accident.”

“But we self-heal.”

I self-healed, too? Nice. No, not nice. I refused to start buying into his crazy assumptions. “I could hurt someone.”

“There’re just Mortals. If it’s their time to go, it’s their time to go. No force of nature can stop that. No, that’s not true. Norns could. You look breathtaking this morning. Love that shade of red on you. Very vampy. What is it you once told me? Red gives you the extra oomph when you are having a shitty day.”

The only person who knew that was Raine. “Who told you that?”

I saw a few souls here and there... @EdnahWalters #Grimnirs #RunesSeries #NewRelease

EXCERPT

I saw a few souls here and there on our way home. They all stopped and stared at our car. I slid lower in my seat and wondered whether the arrogant reaper would collect them, too. Maybe he was here to clean up our town. I hoped so. I was tired of being a target.

“You’ve been quiet since we left the store,” Mom said as we got closer to home. We were on Orchard Road, the street that split two of the largest vineyards in Kayville. “Are you okay?”
I shrugged. “Yeah.”

“You know, you can talk to me if anything is bothering you.”

Talking to her was out of the question. Dr. Wendell might prescribe more psych meds or insist on having me admitted again. “I heard you and Dad talk about me this morning. I don’t want to be homeschooled, Mom. I’m going back to school on Monday.”

“Sweetie—”

“No, Mom. I’m better, and I want to do this.”

Her lips pinched in annoyance as she turned onto the road leading to our farm. “Let’s discuss it after dinner.”

Her firm voice said the discussion was closed. I leaned back against my seat and stared out the window. My parents had had me later in life and tended to be overly protective. Most of the time, I listened to them. Not this time. This might be the beginning of a trend. First, homeschooling. Next, not going away to college. The only college in town was a private one, and I planned to go as far away from Kayville as I could. There were way too many bad memories here.

GRIMNIRS (Runes book): It's Live! Swoon Over Echo Today! @ednahwalters #Grimnirs #RunesSeries #Giveaway #swags

Grimnirs
Runes Series #2.5
https://www.goodreads.com/book/show/18715094-surrender-to-temptation

The closer I got to my school, the more nervous I became. The last two days had been a nightmare—worrying about school, Echo returning with more outlandish stories, watching the videos on my vlog over and over, and trying to find anything that made sense.

The annoying reaper didn’t come back, and I didn’t find anything useful online. It was me on those videos, not someone impersonating me or a doppelganger. The mannerism, facial expressions, even the laugh on those videos said it was me.

But how had I sneaked out of the psych ward? Had I created a portal through a mirror the way Echo had done, but had been too pumped full of psych meds to remember? The problem was I didn’t sound drugged or look loopy in the videos. Not knowing how I’d recorded them was driving me nuts.

For two days, I’d researched supernatural phenomena. Astral projection was a possible explanation. I could see souls, so it wasn’t a stretch. Echo flashed his tats and became invisible, so my astral image could have hooked up with him.

Right. It sounded like something straight out of a fantasy novel. I would have remembered Echo. Making out with him. I just hated the idea of having had sex with him. How could I have forgotten my first time?

Dad stopped at the stop sign, and I pulled up behind him. I’d insisted on bringing my Elantra even though he and Mom had caused a big stink about it. How the heck was I going to go back to being normal when I couldn’t drive myself to school? After clothes shopping with Mom yesterday and souls following us everywhere like zombies, I knew I couldn’t let her chauffeur me around. She’d almost caught me glaring at a soul.

A sudden cold draft filled my car as I stepped on the gas. I smothered a scream and slammed on the brakes when my eyes met Echo’s in the rear-view mirror.

Title: Grimnirs
Author: Ednah Walters
Genre: YA Paranormal
Dates: Dec. 6th - Dec. 8th
Time: 12AM - 8AM CST

Synopsis
Straight out of the psych ward, Cora just wants her life to be normal. She doesn’t want to see souls or the reapers collecting them. The guy she’s loved from a distance for years moves away without saying goodbye. So yes, she’s nursing a serious heartbreak. It’s no wonder love is the last thing on her mind when Echo storms into her life.

The chemistry between them is mind-blowing.The connection defies logic. Even better, the souls leave her alone when he is around.

Too bad Echo is the poster boy for everything she hates in a guy—hot, beautiful, and cocky. He is also a soul reaper. A Grimnir.  The very beings she wants out of her life. Maybe normal is overrated because Cora wants it all. Answers. Love. A life.

TOUCH OF DEATH REVIEW (5 stars)

13th zodiac sign!!! I love it when an author comes up with something original and writes an amazing book. Kelly nailed it by centering her story on the 13th zodiac sign (never heard of it until now). I love ancient mythology, but the combination of Greek mythology, necromancers and zombies in this story took my breath away

The story held my interest from the beginning to the end. I loved Jodi. She was relatable and believable, strong, the kind of heroine you root for. She didn’t just accept things and was stubborn enough to look for answers. She is my kind of heroine.

Alex was swoon-worthy and likeable. Great sense of humor, a touch of arrogance, sweetness. Who doesn't need who's there when you need them? Every girl needs their Alex. And the twist at the end….I didn’t see that coming.

If you love a well-written book with amazing characters, grab your copy before the release of Stalked by Death.
