Banned Books Week (BBW) celebrates the freedom to read, highlights the benefit of free and open access to books, and draws our attention to the harm of censoring what we read.
America presently has no banned books due to the efforts of librarians, teachers, booksellers, authors, and the community, but that doesn't stop some people from challenging and banning some books because of political and religious reasons.
Some of the books that were banned one time or the other, or challenged, surprised me because I've read them, my children have read them, their friends, and friends' friends own and have read them. In fact, most of the books listed below have been made into movies. Other than Harry Potter, which ones of the books below have you read?
