COVERS BATTLE: Which Runes Cover appeals to you, Coming May 2013,

1. Today was the cover reveal of my new YA paranormal series, target audience, 17+. I fell in love with these models the moment Cora of Cora Graphics showed me the cover. The guy fits Torin St. James to a T. The sapphire eyes, the lips, the lips, the thick black hair and eyebrows. The girl is so Raine.

BLURB: Seventeen-year-old Raine Cooper has enough on her plate dealing with her father’s disappearance, her mother’s erratic behavior and the possibility of her boyfriend relocating. The last thing she needs is Torin St. James—a mysterious new neighbor with a wicked smile and uncanny way of reading her.

Raine is drawn to Torin’s dark sexiness against her better judgment, until he saves her life with weird marks and she realizes he is different. But by healing her, Torin changes something inside Raine. Now she can’t stop thinking about him. Half the time, she’s not sure whether to fall into his arms or run.

Scared, she sets out to find out what Torin is. But the closer she gets to the truth the more she uncovers something sinister about Torin. What Torin is goes back to an ancient mythology and Raine is somehow part of it. Not only are she and her friends in danger, she must choose a side, but the wrong choice will cost Raine her life

2. I also fell in love with the second cover Cora showed me, which would be perfect too. I was conlficted between having a girl only on the cover. This is a trend that's been going on FOREVER and even though I love this cover too, I'm a bit tired of having perfect girls on book covers.

3. If you were to choose, which one would you go for? Would it matter if it were on a print or e-book?

  1. Wow, both are awesome. I can't take my eyes off Torin, which is making it harder to pick my favorite cover. It's like he's hypnotizing me! Okay, since I can't look away from him for longer than two seconds, I'm going with the first cover. LOL

    1. It was a hard decision for me too

    2. I forgot to mention that Kelly professionally edited Runes and she KNOWS what she's talking about. Cover #1 fits the book perfectly.

  2. Second one. The electric purple is very catchy and the swirl on her face ties nicely into the background. Stands out more than the first, especially if you're looking at thumbnail versions.

  3. I like the second one better too! I think it goes more with the title!

  5. Oops. Technical error. Trying again. ;)

They're both nice, but I like the second one best. Those purply/pinkish tones pop so nicely on the screen.

    Good luck!

  6. I like them both too, but when it comes down to the genre, I would have to say the second one. Love the colors and the mysteriousness of it!

    1. Yes, the second one does have that YA thing, but once you read the story, the first one makes more sense

  8. When I saw this on another site, this morning, I just had to stop by and tell you that it's gorgeous!! Love it, as well as the premise. Congrats!!! Now, as far as your question, hmm... I guess it all depends on how you see your story. Honestly, they are both beautiful. It wouldn't matter to me, but I do have to say I love the colors in the second one and the girl's look seems to fit the title.

    1. My story fits much better with the first one, but I see the appeal in the second one. It was a tough decision

  9. I like the first one better. The second one looks too sci-fi to me, which doesn't seem to be what your story is about. Plus, blue is totally better than purple (says the girl with the purple cover) - but it's true! ;)

    1. The blue matches his eyes, which are very electric.

  10. I prefer the second cover mainly because I'm tired of seeing shirtless guys and a guy give a come hither look to someone besides the girl he's with. Also the girl looks frightened by his touch.

    1. It's supposed to make you wonder... And the blurb does mention he has a sinister about his appearance at her school. You are very observant. Thanks for yuor input.

    1. Hey Minnie. I'll keep her for another story, but the story fits with #1 despite everyone's preference.

    1. Thanks. Cora did an amazing job and I'll definitely continue using her services. She even agreed to keep the cover of the girl for me for future use.

  14. I can't believe I'm going to say this because I LOVE covers with hot and mysterious looking guys, however something about the second cover really draws me in. But either way, you can't go wrong - they're both terrific.

    1. LOL, Mary, you and I both. Once you read the book, you'll go, "Aah, no wonder crazy Ednah went against the grain and chose cover one."

  15. I like both, but I think that #2 is more in line with the synopsis. The lovely girl and boy on #1 look older than the story. However, I must say I would pick up and look at either. I generally prefer ebooks, that way I can keep it in my library and reread whenever I choose without having a space problem. I especially enjoy rereading prior books in a series before a new release if it has been a while :)

    1. I don't want to give the plot away, but number one is completely in line with the story. She won't get runes until book #2

  16. Hmmm...I like the look of the second one, but if you male character has an equal role then the first one might be more appropriate.
